Billy Joe Swafford

Billy Joe Swafford, 64, of Tate, GA passed away Friday February 28, 2014 at Embracing Hospice following a period of declining health.

Born August 28, 1949 in Gwinnett County to the late Sherman and Lenny Mae Swafford, he had lived in Pickens County for the past 10 years having moved from Dawsonville. Mr. Swafford worked a number of years in residential construction and formerly owned a filling station in Buford. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Swafford; brother, Ronnie Swafford; and daughter in law, Tonya Swafford.

Surviving are his children, Billy Joe, Jr. and Juanell Swafford, Cumming, Bobby Joe Swafford, Tate, Terry Joe Swafford, Cumming, Jeff Swafford, Cumming, Melinda "Misty" Swafford, Cumming, Joey Swafford, Cumming; sister, Shirley Foster, Dallas; 14 grandchildren; a great grandchild; his ex-wives, Brenda Swafford, Helen Swafford and Carrol Greene.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 3, 2014 at 3 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Barney Johns will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 noon until 8 at the funeral home.
