James W. (Jake) Waters

Obituary Date: Friday, February 28, 2014
James W. "Jake" Waters, Jr., 82 of Gainesville, Ga. died peacefully at his residence on Friday February 28, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday March 3, 2014 at Lakewood Baptist Church, The Reverends Dr. Tom Smiley and Rev. Jerry Gill officiating. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Waters was born in Chicopee, Ga. on January 3rd 1932 to the late James and Willie Moore Waters. He lived in Gainesville, Ga. all of his life. He was preceded in death by sisters, Bernice Martin, Jamie White and Betty Pinson.

Jake graduated from Riverbend School in 1949 and North Georgia College in 1953. He served for 2 years as 2nd lieutenant in the US Army.

Jake was the Owner of Jim Waters Motor Company and King Motors Company as the love of the car business was one of his passions. In addition, he was the owner of Hyatt Auto Parts and served as President of the Georgia Auto Parts Assoc. in 1986 to 1987.

Jakes other passion was aviation. He loved to spend time at the airport and spent many hours flying his family and friends to different places. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class.

Jake is survived by his wife, LaTrelle Waters and daughter Elizabeth Waters. He is also survived by his Sister and Brother in law, Amanda and Howard Gardner and Brother in law, Emmett White. Nieces and nephews also survive as well as a host of special family members and friends.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation for his special caregiver, John Johnson and the N.E. Ga. Medical Center Hospice nurses. Family members and friends would like to commend LaTrelle and Elizabeth for their exceptional care of Jake in the home until the end. He was a very special man and deserved only the very best. They faithfully fulfilled their role as a devoted wife and daughter.
