Frances E. Bazemore

Frances E. Bazemore, 73, went to heaven in the early morning of February 26, 2014. She had been living in Dawsonville Georgia with her daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Steve Harmon.

Born August 19th, 1940 to the late Florine Hudson, and adopted by her father, Jack Rauback, she graduated from Chamblee High School in 1958, Married John R. Waddell, and is the mother of three children, "Speedy" John R. Waddell, Jr., Raymond "Scott" Waddell, and Sherri Marie Harmon.

Fran was lovingly known as the "pistol packing, motorcycle riding mother fuzz" in her day. She worked for Dekalb County Police Department in the 1970's, and became one of the first two women in Georgia to be awarded the Police Firearms Instructor Certificate by the National Rifle Association. She was known for setting national records and winning many shooting matches competing with the Dekalb Police Pistol Team. Frances was proud to be recognized by The Governor's 20 Program as one of the top twenty law enforcement officers from the state of Georgia for excellence in Police Combat competition.

Frances and her second husband, William Bazemore, lived in St. Augustine, Florida, where they owned and operated King Pawn Shop with their rottweiler dogs. Fran later became a host at Potters Wax Museum, and drove a school bus for St. Johns County School System. She and her husband moved to Griffin, Georgia in 2007, to be closer to family. Fran was widowed in 2013.
Frances loved her family, riding motorcycles, shooting guns, gold with diamonds, dogs, cowboy boots and Elvis Presley. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Surviving children are John and Lori Waddell of Marble Hill, Scott and Tracie Waddell, and Steve and Sherri Harmon of Dawsonville. She was known as "Granny" to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family of Fran Bazemore is planning a special memorial for her to be held at a later date.
