Betty Claire Williams Wing

Betty Claire Williams Wing, age 76 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Wing was born on October 11, 1937 in Gastonia, NC to Ernest Williams and Lena Stroup Williams. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her cherished memories are left with her husband of 54 years, Harry Wing of Gainesville, her sons Dub Wing of Gainesville and States Wing and his wife Kerensa of Suwanee, grandchildren Kip Wing of Durango, Colorado, Walker and Kyia Wing of Suwanee and her dog Lucy.

Betty loved her family more than anything else in this world and always put others before herself. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and at one time served as Stephen's Minister. She met her husband Harry while she was a Tri Delta at Brenau College and spent the next 54 years with him raising her two sons and loving her grandchildren. Betty's hobbies included collecting and reading cookbooks, watching the birds and other wildlife in her wooded back yard, reading the newspaper and cutting out articles to send to her family and friends and cheering on the Tar Heels! She was a steadfast and solid friend and had a close group of ladies that began a bridge club that eventually turned into a lunch group. Betty will be missed greatly by her family and friends, but they find solace in knowing that she is in Heaven.
