Paul Swain Murphy

Paul Swain Murphy, age 67, of Cornelia, GA died Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home.

Swain was a native and lifelong resident of Habersham County. He owned and operated S & R Salvage for a number of years and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cornelia.

Swain was the son of the late Grover William Murphy and Susie Garrison Murphy and was also preceded in death by his wife, Retha Swain; and daughter, Kirstie Dills.

He is survived by children, Charlotte Jones, Clermont, GA, Michelle Hamilton, Dahlonega, GA, Jessica Dills, Dahlonega, GA, and Paula Murphy, Cornelia, GA; brothers, Grover Murphy, Alto, GA and Vernon Murphy, Cornelia, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Clinton Savage, Cornelia, GA, and Faye Loudermilk, Mt. Airy, GA; grandchildren, Cody Hamilton, Cynthia Raez, Amber Jones, Dustin Jones, Brianna Justice, Tristan Myers, Hannah Justice, Bentley Batson, and Mason Myers. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Swain are scheduled for 1 PM Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cornelia, GA.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 4 PM until 9 PM, all day on Thursday starting at 12 Noon, and again on Friday until the time of service.
