Donald Eugene Meeks

Donald Eugene Meeks, age 77 of Gillsville, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2014 at 3:30pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Knight, Rev. Doug Gaines and Rev. Ron Shiflett officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-9:00pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Meeks was born July 30, 1936 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Mark Meeks and the late Ruby Mae Ransom Meeks. He was retired from the Hall County Board of Education and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Mr. Meeks owned and operated Spring Street Amoco Service Station for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Eugene Meeks and his sister, Barbara Simmons.

Mr. Meeks is survived by his wife of 58 years, Aline Segars Meeks of Gillsville; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Tammy Meeks of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Eva Meeks of Homer; grandson and wife, Jamie and Kimberly Meeks of Gainesville; granddaughter and husband, Jeff and Jessica Holloway of Gainesville; grandson and wife, Tim and Brandy Meeks of Homer; grandson and wife, Cody and Allaire Meeks of Homer; great-grandson, Noah Mote; great-granddaughter, Harlie Meeks; great-grandson, Kaplan Meeks; great-granddaughter-to-be, Annastyn Meeks; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Glenda Meeks of Oakwood; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Jack Dutton of Buford and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a number of loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, also aunts and uncles.
