Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Robert Francis Flanigan, age 87 of Cleveland, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, FL., Birmingham, AL. and Conyers, GA.Mr. Flanigan passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014. He was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Lucius E. Flanigan and Bessie Ficquett Flanigan. After graduating from Conyers High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, attended the University of Georgia and the High Museum School of Art. He was an architectural millwork estimator for now defunct Campbell Coal Company in Atlanta, worked in sales promotion and industrial product sales for U.S.Plywood Corporation which later merged with Champion Papers and is now owned by International Paper Company. He was an officer in the Birmingham chapter of the Producer's council ( affiliated with the American Institute of Architects) and was an associate member of the Construction Specifications Institute. He was a member of the Cleveland United Methodist Church ans a past member of the its Board of Trustees. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, the former Sadie Bankston of Cleveland,daughter and son in law, Pat and Greg Geis of Covington, Georgia.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00pm, Saturday, March 1, 2014 from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home .
