Helen Byrd Waters

Mrs. Helen Byrd Waters of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 08, 2014 at the age of 91.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 10, 2014 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The Reverend Terry Walton will officiate.

A native of Walton County, born October 24, 1922, she lived most of her life in Hall County. She was the daughter of the late Hughlon O. Byrd and Mae Bell Couch Byrd.

Mrs. Waters was a charter member of the 20th Century Study Club since 1945. She was an avid bridge player and member of two prominent bridge clubs in Gainesville. She was a passionate gardener, as well as a dedicated fan of both college and pro football.
Mrs. Waters served as bookkeeper for the Hall County Board of Education, as well as a longtime bookkeeper in the poultry industry. She retired as bookkeeper for Ward's Funeral Home.

She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church, Gainesville. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry L. Waters, Jr.; three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Waters is survived by her daughter, Lisa Waters of Atlanta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Carol Allen of Marietta; Rudy and Barbara Allen of Gainesville; two step-sons, Charlie and Terry Waters; one sister, Anne Brown of Piedmont, SC; one aunt, Dorothy Jones of Winder; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.
