God called home the creative and unique spirit of Brian David Sterner at the age of 39. Born in San Diego, California on March 22, 1974. Brian lost his battle with lung cancer on February 2, 2014. A child of a loving family and advocate for nature, Brian is survived by his wife, Kelley Uber Sterner, parents, Robert & Susan Sterner, brother, Christopher Sterner, sister-in-law, Nicole Sterner, nephew, Gavin Sterner, and in-laws Jeff (Karen) Griffin as well as a large extended family and countless friends.
Brian was a lifelong Boy Scout, earning his Eagle and spending his summers at camp, which set forth a path before him with an intense compassion for nature and life itself. This intense love was developed through his numerous Renaissance-like interests and his eventual career in environmental awareness and education.
Brian began his career in Environmental Education by majoring in Forest Biology at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Brian attended graduate school at the Stephen F. Austin State University pursuing a degree in Resource Interpretation, culminating in his career in Environmental Education at the Gwinnett County Environmental and Heritage Center. The world has lost one of its greatest advocates of love and compassion.

Memorial Services for Brian will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2 P.M. at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center in Buford, Georgia; a reception with family and friends will follow.
