Joanne Marguerite Smith

Joanne Marguerite Smith, age 80, of Demorest, passed away Sunday, February 02, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.



Born on February 02, 1934, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Daniel D. and Catherine Murphy McGachie. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church and was previously employed with Walmart. She also volunteered with Sharing and Caring and worked with the Ladies Auxiliary at Habersham Medical Center.




In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Smith.




Survivors include daughters, Deborah Ann Smith of Demorest and Terri Renshaw of Toccoa; brother, Richard Rice of Demorest; grandchildren and spouses, Robert and Amanda Renshaw of Toccoa and Joanne and John Hughes, IV of Demorest; great grandchild, Jaeden; special friend, Lloyd Estep of Cornelia.




Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 07, 2014 at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in VFW Memorial Park.
