Douglas Joseph Benson

Funeral service for Douglas Joseph Benson, age 82, of Alto will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the St. Mark Catholic Church with interment to follow the service in the Hillside Gardens with military honors provided by the Georgia Army National Guard.

Mr. Benson died February 1, 2014 at his residence.

Born on February 3, 1931, Mr. Benson was the son of the late Earl Mark and Cleone Wyloff Benson. Mr. Benson was a United States Army Veteran and retired from Federal-Mogul where he was the Southeastern Regional Manager. He was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church in Clarkesville where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Maribel Guffey Benson, of Alto; One daughter: Valery Benson Fairchild, of Cornelia; One son: Mike Benson, of Flowery Branch; five grandchildren: Jessica, Christopher, Jim, Bryan, and Jason; and three great-grandchildren: Noah, Charlie, and Stella.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 6-8 pm.
