Mrs. Sarah Evelyn Peck Cheek, age 85 of Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Oaks at Scenic View, Baldwin, Georgia.
A daughter of the late Robert "Bay" and Ruth Warren Peck, she was born February 4, 1928 in Flowery Branch, Georgia having lived most of her life in Toccoa. During World War II, she was a messenger girl for Savannah Shipyards and was later employed with Harper's 5 & 10 for a number of years and was a member of Toccoa Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Cheek in 1995.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Peggy Cheek of Smyrna, Georgia, Mark and Joan Cheek of Toccoa, Georgia and Robert and Tami Cheek of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren and two-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 10, 11 O'clock AM in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Matthew Lathan, Rusty Cheek, Jason Cheek and Christopher Cheek.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM.
