Lee Fletcher 'Chipper' Hardy

Obituary Date: Sunday, January 5, 2014

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Lee Fletcher "Chipper" Hardy, age 67 of Sautee.

A celebration of Mr. Hardy's life will be held 2:00pm sunday, January the 12th at Nacoochee United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Grizzard and Rev. Chris Shurtz will be officiating. Lee and his wife, Betty lived in Sautee for the past 8 years. Lee spent over 15 years as the children's minister and adult sunday school teacher of the Journeyers class. He was also a lay speaker and enjoyed sharing the gospel of Christ whenever asked.

Lee served in the army as a Captain. His career in business gave him the opportunity to travel the world, and he encouraged others to "Make Life as Big as Possible" by taking every opportunity possible to travel and see all of god's majesty in his creation.

Lee passed away sunday, january 5,2014 at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He even gave a sermon recently called " The Blessings of Cancer" where he spoke about all the wonderful opportunities cancer had given him to meet so many different people and share the gospel. He carried both men and womens socks and told the patients and medical personnel that he had been praying " God to Bless You".Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife Betty Hardy of Sautee;son Steve Hardy of Sautee;daughters and sons in law,Cheryl and Dr. Larry Ver Hoef of Birmingham,Alabama,Chanda and dwayne Whitehead of Dahlonega;brothers and sister in law Don Hardy of Scottsdale,Arizona,Joe and Joyce Hardy of Tucson,Arizona;sister and brother in law Marlee and Jack Watson of Yuma,Arizona. Mr. Hardy is also survived by his 6 grandchildren Hannah Eaton,Hunter-kaye Eaton,Emily Sims, Macie Whitehead, Jonathan and Dalton Whitehead all of Dahlonega.

In Lieu of Flowers it is Lee's request that each person who knew and loved him, honor his memory by celebrating life in a special, memorable way with your family and friends. Spend time together, talk and share, do something very special and so special that it will be part of the legacy left for your family. Above all, make Jesus Christ your Savior.
