Charlie Jackson, Jr.

Mr. Charlie Jackson, Jr. A Faithful Servant of God, age 81 of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away January 5th, 2014 at Oaks at Limestone, Gainesville, Georgia following an extended illness. Mr. Jackson was born February 8th , 1932 in Dahlonega, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Charlie Jackson, Sr. and Ottie Lee Goss Jackson; and his brothers, Billy G. Jackson, Leon B. Jackson, and Roy Jackson; one sister, Minnie Jackson Webb; one step-son Willie Trammell. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maryetta Jackson; four daughters, Dolores McAllister, Flowery Branch, Georgia, Pamela Jackson, Vanessa Jackson; and Jacqulyn Gholston, all of Dahlonega Georgia. Four sons, Charles(Sandra)Jackson, Douglas Jackson, Gary Jackson, Gregory Jackson, all of Dahlonega, Georgia, one step-son Melvin Trammell of Athens Georgia. He is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis(Stanley)Ford of Atlanta Georgia, and Evie Jackson of Dahlonega, Georgia. Sister-in-laws: Melvina Jackson, and Maudell Singleton of Dahlonega GA; and Edna Dorsey, Gainesville. Brother-in-law Albert Webb of Dahlonega: Thirty Four Grand children; Twenty Nine Great Grand children; and a host of loved nieces, nephews, cousins and other close family members and friends.

Mr. Jackson was a life-long member of Hickory Grove CME Church where he has served faithfully; he also served as Chairman of The Trustees; and Chairman of The Steward Board. Anytime there was a happening at the church, that's where you would find Brother Jackson. He served in the United States Army; he also learned the butchering trade as a youth and performed his services for many families through-out Georgia and some out of state. He also worked at North Georgia Agriculture School, Martin Poultry, and The Pine Tree Plant where he retired after 13 years. In 1974 he was hired by North Georgia College Public Safety Department. He was a 1975 graduate of Cobb County Police Academy. He continued his travel and training in Law Enforcement and worked through the ranks: Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant; and in July 1984 Charlie Jackson was named Director and Chief of the department and served as director for 10 years; he retired with over 28 years of service from the department.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Hickory Grove CME Church in Dahlonega at 2pm. Visitation will be held at Banister Funeral Home on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 4-7:30pm, family will gather from 5:00-7:30pm.
