Ruffin Emory Ladd

Mr. Ruffin Emory Ladd, age 89 a lifelong resident of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Summer's Landing Assisted Living in Gainesville.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Monday, January 6, 2014 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The Reverend Matt Wethington and Reverend Benji Ladd will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Ladd was born on July 18, 1924, the son of the late Emory Ladd and Pearl (Fields) Ladd. He attended Sardis School and he served in the United States Army during World War II. He was retired from Martin, Nalley, Jim Wilson and Hardy Chevrolet after 45 years. He was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer and Deacon Emeritus and served as a Deacon for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lois (Cape) Ladd; brother, Walter Ladd and sister, Gwen Coley.

Mr. Ladd is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Sandra Ladd; Maxey and Sue Ladd; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Hardy Propes, all of Gainesville; granddaughter and husband, Staci and Tony Wagoner; grandsons and wives, Shannon and Neysa Ladd of Gainesville; Phil and Shelly Ladd of Lula; Benji and Kristi Ladd of Greenville, SC; Zach and Katie Propes of Gainesville; great-grandchildren, Luke, Lydia, Emery, Jessie, Hadley, Rainey, Allie and Lily Ladd; sister and brother-in-law, Blondene and Darrell Sheridan; sister-in-law, Edythe Ladd; brother-in-law, Benny Cape; special nephew, Bobby Joe Peck and a number of other family, friends and relatives also survive.
