Melissa Seabolt Guard

Melissa Seabolt Guard, age 39, of Dahlonega, GA died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA following an extended illness.

Melissa lived most of her life in Lumpkin County. She was a senior accountant with AT & T and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Melissa got numerous achievement awards during her career at AT & T. She also coached basketball at the Lumpkin County Park & Rec. Center. She was adventurous and full of life and devoted her life to her kids.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Seabolt.

She is survived by daughters Kelli York and Kristi York, Dahlonega, GA; son, Sean Guard, Colorado; mother, Ann Seabolt, Dahlonega, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lynn and Barry Woody, Demorest, GA, Cindy and Daryl Truelove, Dahlonega, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Rene Seabolt, Cumming, GA; nieces and nephews, Cierra Rose, Blake Garrett, Brandon Seabolt, Brooke Seabolt, Erin Woody, Zachary Woody, and Kalynn Woody; best friend, Anthony Chalfant, Cumming, GA. Numerous other relatives also survive.

A memorial service for Melissa is scheduled for 11 AM Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.

Following the memorial service there will be a graveside service at Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County for the burial of the cremains.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 from 5 PM until 9 PM.
