William L. 'Wick' Dillashaw

William L. "Wick" Dillashaw, Jr., age 85 of Cornelia, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013.


Born on January 30, 1928, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late William Luther Dillashaw, Sr. and the late Florence Nix Dillashaw.


Mr. Dillashaw was a retired counselor for the Georgia Department of Education. He was a member of Demorest Baptist Church. He was a man who lived a Christian life in every aspect. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and he also followed the political arena actively. Mr. Dillashaw was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II and served in Guam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Dillashaw.




Survivors include loving wife of 64 years, Phoebe Cook Dillashaw of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill & JoAnne Dillashaw and Bob & Elaine Dillashaw all of Cornelia; grandchildren, Clay & Bonnie Dillashaw, Chris Dillashaw, Taylor & Natalie Houston; six great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Hodgkins of Atlanta.




Funeral services are 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Tom Meborn and Mr. Dorsey Wilbanks officiating. Entombment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.




The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until the service hour.
