Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Curtis William Alexander, age 77, of Cleveland. Curtis passed away Sunday,
December 29, 2013. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Friday, January 3, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dave Fortner, Rev. Henry Loggins and Rev. Farrell Presley officiating. Interment will follow in Gateway Memory Park.
Born in White County on March 9, 1936, Curtis was the son of the late Marlin Alexander and Dicie Palmer Alexander. He graduated Cleveland High School and worked briefly for the Atlanta Transit System. After moving back to Cleveland, he worked at Mauney's Grocery Store, and later with the Standard Coffee Company. In 1980, Curtis began his
career with Electrolux Vaccum Cleaners, Curtis would retire from Electrolux after a long and distinguished career earning many awards
and acknowledgements. Following his retirement from Electrolux, Curtis worked for a short time with NOK Freudenberg, but he found his true enjoyment by assisting his son at Alexander Funeral Home. Curtis loved
people and always had a joke and smile for each and every person he met. His sense of humor would be something that he would carry with him until the end. On June 16, 2012, Curtis would face one his hardest battles, when he lost his wife, soul mate and best friend of 54 years, Pearl Fain Alexander. In addition, Curtis is preceded in death by his sisters, Lavaughn Hampton, Edith Tyner, Lorene Lowery and his brother, C.L. Dillard, as well as his three infant grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons and their wives, Anthony and Karen Alexander, Demorest; Brian and Connie Alexander, Cleveland; his
daughter and her husband, Angela and Marvin Kanuer, Phillipsburg, Montana; Brothers and their spouses, Kenneth and Margie Alexander,
Cornelia; Jack and Gladys Dillard, Rex; sisters and their husbands, Janice and Ted Webb of Demorest , Gail and Randy Brown of Toccoa; grandchildren, Kurt and Shaina Alexander, Gustin Alexander, Tristin
Alexander and Alex Knauer; great granddaughters, Chloe Alexander and Ava Alexander, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Curtis had a special affection for those at the White County Senior Center, as he cherished the relationships he had made there. It is requested that memorial donations be made to the White County Senior Center, 1239 Helen Hwy, Cleveland, Georgia 30528.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.
