Charles Raymond Hughes

Mr. Charles Raymond Hughes, age 85, of Dahlonega, GA died Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He was a born-again Christ-follower and patriotic American veteran of 26 years.

The son of the late Leonidas and Lila Hughes, Raymond had been a resident of Dahlonega for the past 3 years, where he owned the North GA Christian Radio Station WCDG 88.7 FM. He was a retired officer for the United States Army, and played semi-pro football for Atlanta. He was a Florida certified contractor and land developer with his wife in Central Florida and Central Georgia for 40 years. Ray was a member of the Dahlonega United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Ga. and the University of Georgia.

Ray Hughes is survived by his wife of 30 years, Laurel Hughes; daughters, Bethany Slade, Bonnie, and Beverly; and sister, Dorothy Morris. Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

A memorial service for Raymond is scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Dahlonega United Methodist Church.

Rev. Christy Greenwald, Rev. Steve Scofield, Rev. Bryan Sutton, Pastor Jason Bailey, and Pastor Jerry Stewart will officiate.
