Mrs. Mary Alice Pirkle, age 76, of Lula passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Earl Pirkle will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pirkle was born on September 10, 1937 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Ernest Smith and Tommie Hicks Smith. She was a Truck Driver for Cimarron Trucking and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a loving wife for 58 years, an amazing mother and grandmother, and known to all as "Maw-Maw". She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Milton" Pete" Pirkle; grandson, Joseph Allen Seabolt; sister, Martha Maynor; brothers, George Smith and Billy Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Roy Pirkle of Lula, daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Ven McFalls of Augusta, daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Chad Sexton of Lula, daughter, Beverly Ann and Bill McMillian of Panama City, FL, son and daughter-in-law, William Roy and Yvonne Pirkle of Pendergrass, daughter, Teresa Pirkle Word of Loganville, daughter-in-law, Theresa Carden Pirkle wife of the late Milton "Pete"Pirkle of Del Ray Beach, FL, brothers, Dewey Smith of Oakwood, and Milton Lee Smith of Agawam, MA, Bobby Smith of Gainesville, Clayton Smith of Gainesville, sisters, Barbara Sue Griffith of Pell City, AL, Margie Gibbs of Maysville, Linda Davis of Alto, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren.
