Helen Marie Flory

Helen Marie Flory, age 84, passed away on December 17, 2013, after losing her battle with cancer. She passed peacefully in her home in Dahlonega surrounded by family.

Helen was born on September 19, 1929, in Chicago, IL to George C. and Catherine Myrtle Koltz. She was married to Wayne R. Flory in Naperville, IL on August 23, 1949. Their union was blessed with ten children. They moved to Atlanta in 1964, where Helen was a dedicated wife and homemaker, and active in the I.H.M. Catholic Church. She and her husband enjoyed extensive travel abroad and throughout the U.S. in their R.V. They moved to Dahlonega in 2002, where she engaged in volunteer work with St. Luke's Catholic Church, The Community Helping Place, and throughout the local community.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in 2004, her son Christopher in 2010, and her daughter Susan in September of this year.

She is survived by brothers George Koltz, III (Barb), Bob Koltz (Dawn), and sister Judy Treanor (Pat); sons Randy (Patricia), David (Susan), Peter and Matthew; and daughters Patty Bliss (John), Dianne Narten, Cathy Flory and Cindy Urquhart (Chip); son-in-law Ralph Chambers and daughter-in-law Julie Flory; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.

Visitation will be at Dahlonega Funeral Home, 20 Gibson Road, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533, at 2:00 pm on December 28, 2013, with a memorial service at 4:00 pm, followed by a reception. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 91 N. Park Street, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533, on January 4, 2014 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church.
