Edward Lee Ivester

Edward Lee Ivester, age 70 of Clarkesville, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at his residence.

Born on June 24, 1943, in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Luther and Iolar Maye Densmore Ivester. Mr. Ivester was the retired owner of Ivester Auto Sales and was a member of Clarkesville Church of God. He also was an avid stockcar racer from 1965 until 2001 winning the last race he drove in. Mr. Ivester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ivester was also preceded in death by one great grandchild, Gregory Brandon Ivester, Jr.
Survivors include loving wife of 50 years, Doris Ann Johnson Ivester of Clarkesville; , Gregory & Leslie Ivester of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela & Tim Dean of Cornelia and Cheryl & Tony Sumpter of Clarkesville; brother, David Ivester of Clayton; grandchildren, Brandon & Susan Ivester, Jeremy & Clara Dean, Chase Ivester, Sarah & Jesse Burroughs, Jeff & Cassie Dean, Haley & Derick Ledbetter and Bradley Sumpter; seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 pm on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Clarkesville Church of God with Rev. Tim Tanner, Rev. Matt Calvert, Rev. Gerald Lee, Rev. Austin Ivester, Rev. Hank Connor and Rev. David Hastings officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Turnerville.
The family will receive friends at Clarkesville Church of God on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
