Donal 'Don' Leroy Peterson

Donal "Don" Leroy Peterson, age 77 of Clermont, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.


Memorial services are scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 8:00 pm in a Parlor of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 6 - 8 pm, prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mr. Peterson was born August 31, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Donal Grant Peterson and Estelle Briggs Peterson. He has been a resident of Clermont for 34 years. Moved from Napa, California where he was a Policeman and later opened up a Television Shop and Mobile Radio Company. Don was an avid fisherman and backpacker. He attended the University of Georgia, retired from Hall County School System after 14 years of service as an Electro Mechanical Instructor and School Bus Driver of Bus #9505 for North Hall High School. Don drove a bus for 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, he also served in the Army National Guard. Don spent several years as a general building contractor and then a telecommunications specialist. His constant companion was his Yorkie "Maggie". Don was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Donal Peterson.


Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, Kathy Peterson of Clermont, mother-in-law, Georgie Bunte of Poulsbo, WA, his children; Elizabeth "Lisa" Peterson Evans of Newark, DE, Cassandra "Cassie" & David Hall of Calhoun, GA and Joseph Lawrence Peterson of Clermont, grandchildren; Justin Lee Peterson and Nikki Shea Peterson, both of Wareham, MA, Derik "Blane" Beaver and Tyler "Chance" Beaver, both of Kennesaw, GA, Maci Lynn Beaver of Calhoun, GA, Robert "Ian" Evans of Philadelphia, PA, Christina "Danae" Evans of Newark, DE and Ashley Marie Peterson of Wareham, MA, great-grandchild, Rileigh Marie Peterson of Wareham, MA, brothers; Chris Peterson of Jersey City, NJ and Dan Peterson of Reading, PA, sisters; Sheran Clark of Livermore, CA and Pamela Crawford of Mokulumne Hill, CA, step-mother, Maryann Peterson of Pottstown, PA, nieces & nephews; Danny Bunte, Jr. and Lori Greene, both of Rhode Island, Katie Clinch of MN and Debbie Thomas of Las Vegas, NV, brothers-in-law; Danny Bunte, Sr. of Rhode Island and Larry Bunte of Las Vegas, NV.
