Rebecca Deal McAllister, 88, of Gainesville, GA died November 30, 2013.
"Becky" McAllister was born in Atlanta, GA on May 15, 1925, the daughter of Russell and Lillian Deal. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Aaren McAllister, her high school sweetheart. She leave three children, Russell McAllister of Gillsville, GA; John and Kathryn McAllister of Loganville, GA; and Rebecca and Wayne McCallum of Roswell, GA. She is survived by five grandchildren, Michelle Grace of Lilburn, GA; John and Iris McAllister of Herndon, VA; Matthew McAllister of Chattanooga, TN; Amanda and Jeff McClure of Gainesville, GA; and Correll McAllister of Port Charlotte, FL. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Becky attended Washington Seminary and North Fulton high School, and owned and operated a Hallmark store in Atlanta, GA before retiring with Jim to Gainesville, in 1995. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a woman of faith who had a zest for life and a wicked sense of humor. An avid reader and wordsmith, she enjoyed writing unusual poetry, partaking in the occasional practical joke, traveling, winning at bridge, and spending time laughing with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Hospice Foundation, My Sister's Place, Eagle Ranch or other charity of choice. Becky's like will be celebrated in services in the auditorium at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville, GA on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 am.
