Ralph Eugene Smith

Mr. Ralph Eugene Smith, age 74, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Smoky Springs Independent Living.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born in Buford, Georgia on February 2, 1939, the son of the late Herbert Smith and Minnie (Maddox) Smith. He was a member of West Buford Baptist Church but attended Concord Baptist Church in Clermont. He was retired from Peachstate Auto Auction and also had worked for Gainesville Iron Works for a number of years. He was preceded in death by a brother, R.L. "Red" Smith and a sister, Nell Roebuck.

He was an avid sportsman who loved his Georgia Bulldogs as well as watching his granddaughter, Megan, play volleyball.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Kent Maxwell of Gainesville; granddaughter, Megan Maxwell also of Gainesville; sister, Katherine Parker of Buford and a number of nieces and nephews.
