Hazel Tannery Pepper

Mrs. Hazel Tannery Pepper, age 92 of 210 Collins Industrial Way, Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Life Care of Lawrenceville, Georgia.

A daughter of the late James Harrison and Nettie Dickson Tannery, she was born June 5, 1921 in Oconee County, South Carolina having lived in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia with her husband who was serving in the ministry. She moved to Toccoa in 1987 and for the last six years has been living in Lawrenceville, Georgia. She received her Associate Degree from Truett McConnell College at the age of 68. She was a homemaker, served as Youth Director of Ft. Trial Baptist Church in Bassett, Virginia and various other churches as well as serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Secretary with Woodlawn Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia and wrote literature for the Southern Baptist Convention. She was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and a Sunday School Teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Pepper, three brothers, Joe, Clifton and Ed Tannery and by a sister, Adele Marcengill.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathey and Jim Crawford of Suwanee, Georgia, Brenda and Harold Todd of Carrolton, Virginia and Judy and John Fromm of Wendell, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Kim Surles, Anna Fromm, Kristen Fromm, Eric Crawford and Ryan Crawford; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; brother, Fred Tannery of Dunnellon, Florida; sister, Mildred Windhorn of Blythewood, South Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 2, 2 O'clock PM at Sunnyside Baptist Church with the Reverend Bill Evans and the Reverend Roy Rogers officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Eric Crawford, Ryan Crawford, Rob Windhorn, Rodney Burdette, Jim Crawford and Mabry Getsinger.

The family will receive friends at Sunnyside Baptist Church on Monday from noon until the service time.

Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens with Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Hazel Tannery Pepper.
