Hamlin H. Callahan, Jr. age 86 of Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013 following an extended illness.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina on July 26, 1927, he was a son of the late Hamlin Harwell Callahan, Sr. and Mary Bray Callahan. Mr. Callahan was retired from Stringer Lumber Company in sales and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer and University of Georgia Bulldogs fan. Mr. Callahan served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Moore Callahan; brother, Rev. James A. Callahan; sister, Betty Williams.
Surviving are daughter, Nancy L. Brewster her husband, Danny of Mt. Airy; sons, Ed Callahan, Hamlin Callahan III his wife, Christine and Mike Callahan all of Atlanta; brother-in-law, Bill Raper of Marietta; grandchildren, Cari & Emily Brewster and Jack & Charlie Callahan; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are 2:00 pm Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Len Dalton and Rev. Chris Walters officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the memorial service hour
