Mrs. Kathleen Stephens Smith, age 90, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Smith was born on May 6, 1923 in Blountstown, FL, daughter of the late Jacob Stephens and Roddie Kimbrel Stephens. She was raised in Jacksonville, FL where she met her husband of 71 years, Raymond Smith. She moved to Gainesville in 1946 and Partnered with Raymond in building, decorating and selling homes throughout the Gainesville area.
She was a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church and active in WMU and her Sunday School class. She played tennis and was a champion bowler in earlier years; in later years, she was an avid card player. She is preceded in death by her parents; 4 siblings and 1 daughter.
In life, she was surrounded by love from immediate family member including many nieces and nephews. Her daughter Susan Raye Smith of Gainesville; son, Raymond Smith, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and grandson, Ryan Stephens Brooks of Cherokee, NC, invite you to a celebration of her life at graveside services on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1:00 pm in Alta Vista Cemetery. The Reverend Harry Michael will officiate.
