Catherine Cleveland Whelchel, age 80 of Dawsonville, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Joe Gaines will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 7 - 9 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Whelchel was born June 16, 1933 in Commerce, Georgia to the late Randolph Cleveland and Talitha Leatherwood Cleveland. She was retired from Bell South Telephone Company and was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church, Dawsonville. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, J. W. Whelchel.
Mrs. Whelchel is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Jeffrey & Robyn Whelchel of Charlottesville, Virginia and Eric & Jennifer Burgess of Dawsonville, 3 grandchildren, Orion Whelchel, Bridgit Whelchel, both of Charlottesville, Virginia and Michael Burgess of Dawsonville.
