Betty Mae Maconochie, age 82, of Suwanee, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 8, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottis and Lillian Swindell; and brother, Raymond Swindell.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three and one half years, Douglas M. Maconochie, Suwanee, GA; children, Sandra Maconochie and partner, Mandi Sandmann, Ann Arbor, MI and Scott and Michelle Maconochie, Suwanee, GA; grandchildren, Grayson Maconochie and Harrison Maconochie; sister, Shirley Henry, Centerline, MI; sister-in-law, Pauline Swindell, Warren, MI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Maconochie was born May 19, 1931 in Detroit, MI.
She was a 1949 graduate of Lincoln High School in Warren, MI and a graduate of Macomb Community College with an Associate's Degree. She was a retired school secretary from Van Dyke Public School System with over twenty-five years of service. She was an avid reader and loved arts and crafts including quilting, putting together puzzles, making baskets and stained glass. She did these activities with her beloved husband. She enjoyed her computer, playing solitaire and communications. She was an active member of Sugar Hill United Methodist Church in Sugar Hill, GA.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association to help benefit her beloved husband.
