James Elijah 'Jim' Ridley

James Elijah "Jim" Ridley, age 72 of Cornelia, Georgia entered into the presence of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 24, 2013.

Mr. Ridley was born in Cheswold, Delaware on November 16, 1940, to the late Joel and Hazel Hannum Ridley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Joel W. Ridley II, infant sister, Ruth Ridley and grandson, Ryan Blanchard. Mr. Ridley was a United States Army Veteran. He was a research analyst and retired from SMC ³ (Southern Motor Carriers) with 35 years of service. Mr. Ridley went on several short term mission trips to Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Uganda. He worked with Child Evangelism Fellowship, Good News Clubs and Summer 5-day clubs. Mr. Ridley was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church where he was active in the church choir and teaching Sunday school. We are very thankful to all who cared for Jim through Amedisys Hospice (Toccoa), a very special group of people.

Survivors include his wife, Barbi Ridley, Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ronnie Hudson, Powder Springs; daughter, Faith Ferguson, Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Cheryl Ridley, Dahlonega, Andrew and Rachel Ridley, Gainesville, and Danny and Kirsten Ridley, Clarkesville, sisters, Sue Urian, Delaware and Martha Collins, Delaware, brothers, Earl Ridley, Delaware, Fred Ridley, Maryland and Rev. Doug Ridley, Maryland; 16 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Level Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brian James, Rev. Doug Ridley and Rev. Wyatt Mullinax officiating. Military Honors will be provided by The National Guard, Habersham County American Legion Post #84, Rabun County DAV Chapter 15 and Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720.

The family will receive friends from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
