Mitchell (Mike) Gunter, Jr

Ivie Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Mitchell (Mike) Gunter, Jr., age 57, of Toccoa who passed away on Thursday evening at Landmark Hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Gunter was the son of the late Mitchell Gunter, Sr. and the late Fannie Guest Gunter Phillips. Survivors include his wife, Amy Barron Gunter of the home, four daughters, Holly Gunter (Amon) Jones of Toccoa, Ivy, Gillian and Cydney Gunter all from Toccoa; two sisters Carol Gunter (George) Post, Toccoa and Cathy Gunter (Randall) Davis of Athens. Three grandchildren also survive, Kinley Gunter, Raquel Gunter and Meredith Jones. Mr. Gunter is also survived by his mother in law, Glenda Wood Barron of Commerce.

Services for Mr. Gunter will be held on Sunday at 3PM from the New Town Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Childs and Rev. Johnny Guest officiating. Burial will be in the City of Carlton Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Ivie Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
