PURNEY LEWALLEN STOWE DOCKERY, age 92, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Cornelia, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2013, from The Windsor Assisted Living Community, Palm Coast, FL.
Mrs. Dockery was born in Homer, Georgia on February 13, 1921, to the late Felton and Ora Hill Lewallen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wilburn Dockery who died in April, 2003. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Lillian Yarber, Ruth James and Vivian Martin; brother, Vernon Lewallen. Mrs. Dockery was a member of the Level Grove Baptist Church in Cornelia. She was retired from Carwood Manufacturing Company, where she was employed for 41 years as a seamstress. She also was a homemaker and loved quilting, gardening, bird watching and cooking.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Grover Dover, Gainesville, GA; Sandra and Jim Bennett, Palm Coast, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie and Amy Stowe, Palm Coast, FL; Eddie and Mary Stowe, Palm Coast, FL; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Susie Dockery, Kennesaw, GA; Benji and Latrecia Dockery, Powder Springs, GA.; sisters Bunice Smith, Cornelia, GA; Ramona Hill, Baldwin, GA; brothers Blakely Lewallen, Soperton, GA; Robert Lewallen, Orlando, FL; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Whitfield Funeral Home South Chapel in Baldwin, GA with Reverends Terry Rice and Brian James officiating. Entombment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest, GA.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Whitfield Funeral Home South Chapel in Baldwin, GA.
