Juanita Parton Rigdon, age 68, of Cleveland, Georgia passed away October 13, 2013 from an extended illness.
She was born in Rutherfordton, North Carolina on July 9, 1945 to the late Verno and Mary Jane Parton. She graduated from RS High School in Spindale, North Carolina and Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia. She retired from Freudenberg NOK. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed her family, sewing, playing piano, and spoiling her grandchildren. She leaves behind a strong legacy of faith. She fought her battle with cancer with dignity and grace.
She was married for 48 years to her college sweetheart, Charlie Rigdon. Together they raised three daughters. She is survived by the husband, Charlie Rigdon; daughters, Kimberly Johnson and husband Kelvin of Grand Ridge, Florida; Catherine Turner and husband Travis of Cleveland, Georgia; Karen Vandiver and husband Andy of Cleveland, Georgia; Seven grandchildren who call her grandma: Taylor, Jolie, and Hunter Johnson of Grand Ridge, Florida; Alyssa and Trenton Turner and Baylie Rae and Ansleigh Vandiver of Cleveland, Georgia; two brothers, Carl and Reuben Parton; two sisters, Nell Early and Wanda Mayo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Rudolph Parton; sisters Hazel Stephens and Geraldine Lammonds.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Cleveland Worship Center. The Rev. Charlie Rigdon will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
