Mrs. Clementine "Clemmie" Lord Purcell formerly of Gainesville, Ga. passed away Thursday October 10, 2013 at the age of 94 after declining health.
She was the daughter of the late J.W.J. and Nancy Ragsdale Lord of Commerce,Georgia. Her husband T.W. Purcell and sister Margaret Purcell preceded her in death. She attended Commerce High School and graduated from GSWC in Milledgeville, Georgia. She received a Bachelor of Library Science degree from Emory University.
Mrs. Purcell taught at Dawsonville and Jefferson schools and served as Librarian at Cherokee High School and in the Gainesville City School System for several years. Mrs. Purcell was an active member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Sigma Phi and Friends of the Library.
Mrs. Purcell is survived by her daughter Sandra Gaglio (Pell) of Alpharetta, son David Purcell (Carol) of Roswell and son Larry Purcell (Becky) of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Grandchildren include Christy and Keith Cook of Roswell, Ga. Kathryn and Lauren Purcell of Roswell, Ga. and Jacob, Carlin, and Corrie Purcell of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews that always had a special place in her heart.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday October 13, 2013 at the Gainesville First United Methodist Church Chapel. Dr. Sam Newman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Saturday October 12, 2103 from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Eagle Ranch, United Methodist Childrens Home or ones favorite charity.
