Carlos Leonel Vasquez Noboa

Carlos Leonel Vasquez Noboa, MD, 78, of Cumming, GA died on October 8, 2013. He was born in the town of Barahona in the Dominican Republic on October 5, 1935. He was the son of the late Abelardo and Lucila Vasquez.
Dr. Vasquez attended the Universidad de Santo Domingo where he received his medical education. He completed his post graduate training at Loyola University at the Hines VA hospital in Chicago, Illinois as a diagnostic radiologist. During his career as a radiologist with the Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, West Virginia, he served as the chairman of the radiology department for 20 years and served on the Medical Executive Committee. He served as President of the Hancock County and West Virginia Chapters of the American Cancer Society. He was a fourth degree knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiology Society of North America, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine. He also served as a little league baseball coach in Weirton, WV, and was active in the shelter for abused and battered women in Hancock County, WV. He was an activist and leader in the Democratic Party of West Virginia. In Cumming, Dr. Vasquez was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Danelia Vasquez of Cumming, GA; children, Leonel A. Vasquez, MD and Rhonda Vasquez of Cumming, GA, Lucila (Jeff) Williams of Shady Spring, WV, Dania (Joseph) Paul of Sewickley, PA and Elena (Wendell) Grant of Cumming, GA; siblings, Jose Vasquez, Ana Maria Damiron and Orlando Vasquez all of the Dominican Republic; and much loved grandchildren, Victoria and Olivia Vasquez, Aaron and Nathan Williams, Willie and Jackson Paul and Connor, Ava and Nelson Grant.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2013 in the McDonald and Son Chapel. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:00
