John William Delmer Fowler

Mr. John William Delmer Fowler ("The Watkins Man"), 76 of Gainesville died Wednesday October 9, 2013 at his residence.

Born in Ellijay, Georgia, Mr. Fowler had lived in Hall County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Pressley and Ida Brookshire Fowler of Ellijay. He was a graduate of Sardis High School, Class of 1955. Mr. Fowler was a member of the Moose Lodge #262, Winder, The Eagles #4452,Gainesville, Loyal Order of the Odd Fellows, Sardis. Mr. Fowler was retired from ARA Services and Atlantic Beverage Company in 2008 where he was the warehouse manager. He was a member of the Pine Crest Baptist Church.

Delmer was loved by all his family and is remembered by them as a skilled gardener, a creative wood worker, and a true lover of life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Doris Shewbert Fowler, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law; Lynn and Mike Queen, Gainesville; granddaughters and husbands, Keena Queen and Tim Tatum, Flowery Branch, Tasha and David Cirincione, Gainesville; great grandchildren, Destin and Koen Tatum, Flowery Branch, Sophie and Vince Cirincione, Gainesville. A number of nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Mr. Fowler is preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Fowler, Eunice Simmons Ladd, Gertha Stover and Ila Stover.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday October 11, 2013 in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Dr. David Meacham and Elder Wendell Stover will officiate. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday October 10, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
