James Rush 'Jim' Palmer, Jr

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. James Rush "Jim" Palmer, Jr., age 74, of Jefferson, who passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.



Mr. Palmer was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a son of the late, James Rush Palmer, Sr., and the late Mary Katherine Wood Palmer. Mr. Palmer retired from John Mansfield as an Industrial Electrician with many years of service. Mr. Palmer was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy "Dot" Kesselberg Palmer and a sister, Rose Palmer.



Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Vicki and Greg Winn, Jefferson, Ga., grandchildren, Fallon and Shane Metcalf, Athens, Ga., Heather Butler, Carnesville, Ga., and Rush Winn, Jefferson, Ga., great grandchildren, Max and Luke Metcalf, Destiny and Serenity Winn, sister, Carolyn Benton, Hixson, Tn., brother, Kenny Palmer, Chattanooga, Tn., a number of nieces nephews and a very special friend, Brenda Craig, Jefferson, Ga.



Funeral Services will be Friday, October 4, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Minister Tom Plank officiating. Interment will follow in Evans Memory Gardens, with Robert Phillips, Fulton Wilson, Bill Thompson, Gary Black, Chad Black and Jake Davis honored as pallbearers. Johnny Beatty, Johnny Cannon, Nicky Peppers and Earl Carithers will be honorary pallbearers.

The Family will receive friends on Thursday October 3, 2013 at Evans Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
