Robert Charles Holbrook

Robert Charles Holbrook (90) passed away peaceful early Thursday morning. He was a native of Forsyth County. He was born in 1923 to Estelle Stewart and Robert Lee Holbrook. He attended Forsyth County Schools and served and Machinist Mate, First Class in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He married Latrelle Montgomery in 1944 who preceded him in death in 2007. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration Radar Center. Charlie was a member of Hapeville Masonic Lodge, active Church member of Hapeville First UMC and later Cumming First UMC and Pleasant Grove UMC. Charlie was known for his love of life, wonderful sense of humor and his beautiful voice. He sang in all the church choirs and was an avid golfer. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and delivered Meals on Wheels well into his 80's.
He is survived by son, Robert (Bob) Jack Holbrook and wife, Barbara; daughter, Brenda Holbrook Griffin and husband David; grandchildren Leigh Holbrook, Caroline Holbrook, Adam Griffin, Stephen Griffin; Step grandchildren, Albert and Alex Smith and
7 great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by grandson, Robert (Robbie) Tindal Holbrook.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, September 30 at Cumming First United Methodist Church officiated by Dr Jeff Ross, assisted by Rev. Alex Smith.
