Valdon 'Val' J. Foster

Funeral services for Valdon "Val" J. Foster, age 84, of Cleveland will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 20, 2013 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Graham and Rev. Valdon "Buddy" Foster. Interment will follow the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Foster passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 20, 1929 in Cleveland, Georgia, Mr. Foster was the son of the late Amanda Hulsey and Marvin Earl Sellers and John and Naomi Alexander Foster. He was raised in White County and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1946. Mr. Foster served in the United States Navy and he re-enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Alaska, England and Washington. Mr. Foster was a self employed poultry farmer for Fieldale Farms, Inc. He was a member and Past Master of Yonah Masonic Lodge #382 F&AM, YAARAB Shrine Club, the Valley of Atlanta Scottish Rite. Mr Foster was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Mr. Foster enjoyed playing golf and he being surrounded by those he loved. In addition to his parents Mr. Foster is preceded in death by daughter Diann Carol Foster, nephew Thomas Boyd Johnson, Jr., grandson Joshua Barrett London, and granddaughter Beverly Marie Foster.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Raymond Foster of Cleveland, daughters and sons in law Teri and Tony Newsome of Cornelia and Karen and Ronnie Cooper of Sautee, daughters Patricia F. Turner of Cleveland and Anita Mauldin of Cleveland, sons and daughters in law Bud and Patsy Foster of Cleveland, Casey and Michelle Barron of Clarkesville, Corey and Britteny Barron of Clarkesville, son Brian D. Foster of Cleveland, mother and father in law Jean and Phil Raymond of Macon, brother and sister in law Billy and Brenda Foster of Cleveland, sister and brother in law Betty and Don Carpenter of Cleveland, sister Joan Sellers Johnson of Cleveland brother in law and sister in law Phil and Susan Raymond of Macon, sister in law and brother in law Susan and Alex Thompson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 21 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM.
