Carleton C. 'Bill' Crabill Jr

Carleton C. ``Bill'' Crabill Jr., a Sautee resident for 34 years, died Monday at his home in Sky Lake after a long illness. He was 86.
Mr. Crabill was born in Atlanta on Sept. 15, 1927, the son of Carleton C. and Gertrude Owens Crabill. He attended Boys High School and served in the U.S. Navy in the last months of World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy and a lifelong Bulldog fan.
He and his wife of 64 years, Beth Jones Crabill, split their time between the north Georgia mountains and Jensen Beach, Fla. The former owner of East Atlanta Pharmacy, he was an avid tennis player and loved to travel with his wife and grandchildren.
Mr. Crabill was a member of Clarkesville United Methodist Church and a former Gainesville District lay leader and delegate to the denomination's North Georgia Conference. He earlier served as chairman of the South Dekalb YMCA and was a member of the E.A. Minor Lodge #603.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Betty Rogers of Charleston, W.V.; daughters Betsy Shirk of Alpharetta and Susan Condee of Morrisville, Pa.; son Steven C. Crabill of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be Friday, September 20, 2013 at 2 PM at Clarkesville United Methodist Church, 1087 Washington St., Clarkesville. Interment will follow the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 6
