John C. Tatum

Funeral services for John C. Tatum, age 91, of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 16, 2013 from the Providence Baptist Church. Dr. Don Drawdy and Rev. John Roddy will officiate with interment to follow the service in the Church cemetery.

Mr. Tatum died Friday, September 13, 2013 with his loving family by his side.

Born on November 30, 1921 in Habersham County, Mr. Tatum was the son of the late Vasco and Mary Allen Tatum. Mr. Tatum was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran having served during WWII and he was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer and he was a member of Providence Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tatum is preceded in death by brothers Brady Tatum, Jack Tatum, and Alonzo Tatum. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Survivors include his wife Betty Allen Tatum of Clarkesville, daughters and sons in law Doris and Gerald Kastner of Clarkesville and Carolyn and Rev. John Roddy of Marietta, grandchildren and spouses Chris and Pam Kastner, Lori and James Irvin, grandchildren Elizabeth Roddy, Tyler Roddy, Andrew Roddy, and Katherine Roddy, and great grandchildren C.J. and Kelley Kastner and Kaley and Emily Irvin.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM.
