Carl Jackson Kilby Jr.,

Carl Jackson Kilby Jr., 67, of Clayton, GA passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Mountain Trace Nursing Center in Sylva, NC.

He was born in Rabun County and was the son of the late Carl Jackson Kilby, Sr. and Dorothy Williams Vickers.

Carl is survived by his companion, Cynthia Welch of Clayton, GA; two daughters, Lynne Trusty of Lakemont, GA, Carla Dolan and husband Doug of Tiger, GA; 4 brothers, Gary Kilby of Tiger, GA, Kenneth Kilby of Tiger, GA, Dale Kilby of Lakemont, GA, Tim Kilby of Clayton, GA; two sisters, Carolyn McKay of Tiger, GA, Shirley Nall of South Side, AL. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Devin Trusty, Jackson Trusty, Kaitlyn Dolan, Kimberly Dolan and 1 great-grandchild, Aria Dolan. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

He was a lifelong resident of Rabun County, a US Army veteran, and was a carpenter by trade. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved camping and farming. He was a true "Mountain Man" who was born 100 years too late. He was a very loving and caring father and grandfather.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2013 in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Cannon officiating.
