Donald Cooper McNeal, age 76 of Flowery Branch, passed away Thursday, September 05, 2013 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Compton, Reverend Paul Wade and Reverend Chuck Nations officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
Mr. McNeal was born March 21, 1937 in Hall County, GA to the late George Washington McNeal and the late Mildred Cooper McNeal. A long life resident of Flowery Branch, Mr. McNeal served in the United States Army. He was the owner of Baxter's Shoe Outlet for more than 20 years and the former Mayor and City Council Member of The City of Flowery Branch. He was a youth baseball, basketball and football coach for Flowery Branch Elementary School. Mr. McNeal was retired from the State of Georgia Department of Public Safety and was currently employed by Hall County Corrections Road Maintenance. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Flowery Branch, the Open Doors Sunday School class and a member of the Flowery Branch Masonic Lodge No. 212. Mr. McNeal was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William Larry McNeal, his sister, Georgia Lee Bagby and special Aunt Irene Cooper.
Mr. McNeal is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lillian McNeal, son and daughter-in-law David and Suzanne McNeal, of Cleveland, GA; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and M.A. Whitney of Cumming, GA; daughter and son-in-law Tracy and Hank Wade of Flowery Branch and daughter Cindy McNeal of Flowery Branch, GA; 5 grandchildren: Christie Hill, Rusty Hill, Adrienne McNeal, Paige Wade and Blake Richardson; 7 great-grandchildren: Kaelyn Hill, Carson McNeal, Trey Patterson, Jevin Meza, Taylor Hill, Vincent Hill and Jesup Johnson; Sister-in-Laws Becky McNeal, Vivian Ellington and Bobbie Wingo; Brother-in-Laws William Bagby, C.L. Wingo and Tommy Wingo and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
