Beulah Grace Newman passed away on September 1, 2013 at the age of 95, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bonnie, as she was known, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a devoted sister to her nine siblings. She loved RV traveling, reading, gardening and had a small antique business until two years ago.
Bonnie was born to Abram Joseph and Cora Frances Burkett in Wakefield, Virginia on November 25, 1917. She met and married her husband, Robert, in Washington, DC in 1939. After his military service during WWII, they moved to Pottstown, Pennsylvania, where they raised their two daughters. In 1980, Mr. and Mrs. Newman retired to Commerce, Georgia and then later moved to Dawsonville, GA. After her husband passed away in 1998, Mrs. Newman moved to New Jersey, where she lived until recently.
Bonnie is remembered with love and admiration by her two daughters, Linda (Ken) Herb of Louisville, KY and Kathy (Rich) Rohacek of Cumming, GA; her grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Rohacek of Hollywood, MD, Matt (Erin) Herb of Nashville, TN, Adam Herb of Louisville, KY and Krysta (Mike) Staudenmaier of Albrightsville, PA, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Katie, Hunter and Roark.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Ingram Funeral Home, Cumming, GA. Mrs. Newman will be interred beside her husband, a decorated veteran of WWII and Korea, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Bonnie Newman to Embracing Hospice Care of Cumming, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041.
