James Odus Hamby

James Odus Hamby, age 77 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Pond Fork Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Johnny Knight, Reverend Dwayne Smith and Reverend Scott Lance will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 5 - 8 pm at the funeral home.


Mr. Hamby was born December 2, 1935 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late John Hamby and Anner Belle Tanner Hamby. He was a retired Master Electrician and a member of I.B.E.W. Local Union #613. James was a member of Pond Fork Baptist Church.

Mr. Hamby is survived by his wife, Trudy Dyer Hamby of Gainesville, daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Wayne Roberts of Ruskin, Florida, daughters, Beth Hamby & Pat Coffman of Cleveland, Wanda Brown of Gainesville and Karen Patterson of Gainesville, son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Amy Reeves of Gainesville, sons, David Reeves of Gainesville and Cody Reeves Hamby of Gainesville, 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members.
