Mrs.Bernice Buffington Griffin, 91, of Gainesville, GA. passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
A lifetime resident of Hall County, she was born in Gillsville on June 30, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Talmadge and Correne Perdue Buffington. She was a homemaker and a member of Dunagan Chapel United Methodist Church. She loved going to church, working in her yard and gardening. She tried to help everyone she could. She loved to look after her family and to cook for them. She had a heart as big as the world and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Griffin; brothers, Price, O.T., Glad and Buck Buffington.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Louie and Sheri Griffin of Gainesville; granddaughter, Nicole Griffin of Gainesville; special nieces, Judy Haff of Gainesville, Cheryl Dunagan of Gillsville, special nephew; Jerry Buffington all of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Griffin and Lois Cape both of Gillsville; a number of other nieces and nephews; special friend, Donna Little of Gainesville and great niece, Amber Hawkins of Oklahoma City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Phil Williams and Rev. Jim Sneed will officiate. Interment will be at Gillsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
