Clyde Ricky 'Moon Runner' Vandergriff

Funeral services for Clyde Ricky "Moon Runner" Vandergriff, age 57 of Clarkesville will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Steve McIntyre with burial to follow the service in Cool Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Vandergriff died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 following a brief illness.

A lifelong resident of Habersham County, Ricky was the son of Florence Ricketson Vandergriff and the late G. B. Vandergriff, Jr. One of Ricky's greatest passions in life was truck driving. He owned and operated Moon Runner Express, Inc. trucking company. Ricky was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife Denise Woodard Vandergriff of Clarkesville, daughters and sons in law Jessica Vandergriff Gabrels (Culley) of Clarkesville, Angel Woodard (Joe Recor) of Demorest, son Dustin Ricky Vandergriff of Clarkesville, brother and sister in law George and Linda Vandergriff of Clarkesville, sister and brother in law Caron V. and J. Paul Clark of Athens, grandchildren Brooke Loggins, Madison Gabrels, Jadyn Recor, and Katana Recor, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM.
