Rev. Clyde Collins, age 90, of Dahlonega, GA died Sunday, August 25, 2013.
Clyde was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County and had retired from the GA State Forestry Service. He was a loving husband to his wife, Nellie for 67 years, and a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved to fish, and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Lumpkin County where he loved to attend.
Rev. Collins was the son of the late John and Minerva McDougald Collins, and was also preceded in death by brothers, Claude, Luther, Johnny, and Hubert Collins, Coven and Ed Lee; and sisters, Ola Carder, and Nellie and Ollie Saine.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Nellie Collins; daughters and sons-in-law, Maebelle and George Duff, Shirley and David Key, Joyce and Richard Brown, all of Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Nell Collins, Winder, GA; grandchildren, Richie Brown, and Crystal and Gary Garrett; great grandchildren, Cody Brown, Chase Garrett, Chandler Waters, and Morgan Garrett. A number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Rev. Collins are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Salem Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Rev. Lyman Caldwell, Rev. Roger Stover, Rev. Dennis Fortner, and Rev. Kris Butler will officiate.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 6 PM until 9 PM, all day Tuesday, August 27, and until service time on Wednesday, August 28.
