Albert Eugene 'Gene' Roberts

Albert Eugene "Gene" Roberts, age 80, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.



Gene was born on March 26, 1933, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late William Alonzo and Margie Elizabeth Myers Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He had served as an LPN at Habersham Medical Center and Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Gene was a very dedicated and talented country music musician. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Mae Jarrard Roberts, Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Roberts and Steve Littleton, Toccoa; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Eugene and Lou Jean Roberts and Dan and Teresa Roberts, all of Baldwin; grandchildren, Shane Hunt, Kristy Michelle Woltz, Jennifer Nicole Cook, Brooks Roberts, and Becca Roberts; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Bill Manus officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Georgia National Guard, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013, at the funeral home.
